- Overview :

This 5 days tour takes you from Ouarzazate into the heart of the Sahara desert. You will explore mountains, Berber villages, palm valleys, and wild dunes. Along the way, you will meet nomad families, visit desert schools and oases, ride camels, and sleep in desert camps under the stars.

- Itinerary :

Day 1: Ouarzazate – Taznakht – Foum Zguid – Iriki Lake

We start from Ouarzazate and drive to Taznakht, a Berber village famous for carpets and saffron. After visiting a local cooperative, we continue to Foum Zguid, where you can see an old kasbah and small village life. From here, we enter the desert and drive across rocky paths to the Iriki dry lake. Dinner and overnight in a desert camp near Iriki with music under the stars.

Day 2: Iriki Lake – Chegaga Dunes

After breakfast, we drive deeper into the Sahara to reach the high Chegaga dunes, some of the largest and wildest in Morocco. In the afternoon, you can enjoy a camel ride to watch the sunset over the dunes. Dinner and overnight in a desert camp at Chegaga.

Day 3: Chegaga Dunes – Oasis – Nomad Families – Nomad School

Today we explore the desert and its life. Visit a small oasis in the dunes, meet nomad families, and drink tea with them. Stop at a nomad school to see how children study in the desert. In the afternoon, you can ride camels or relax in the dunes. Overnight in the Chegaga desert camp.

Day 4: Chegaga – Mhamid – Zagora – Agdz

After breakfast, we leave the Chegaga dunes and drive to Mhamid, the last desert village. Then we follow the Draa Valley, full of palm trees and kasbahs, stopping in Zagora and Agdz. Overnight in a hotel or guesthouse in Agdz.

Day 5: Agdz – Ouarzazate

On the last day, we continue through the Draa Valley and the mountains back to Ouarzazate, enjoying the views along the way. The tour ends in the afternoon at your hotel or riad.

Bivouac les nomades' promise is the the real experience of visiting a camp by the nomads. We visited the camp with a team of three, one experienced overland traveler and two first time desert trekkers. Camp was clean, well maintained, situated perfectly in the midst of the dunes. There's pretty much all facilities you need. There's been a 3G network, a solar panel - basically all I need to work from remote. En 2022 nous étions en couple et nous avons pu participer à un véritable raid 4x4. En 2023, nous étions en famille et nous avons eu un séjour adapté et très diversifié dans les activités (trek, balades en dromadaires, visite d’un village nomade, thé au milieu du désert, preparation, de pain dans le sable ….) We really enjoyed it with the great man, Mustapha and his welcoming team under the beats of nomades music. The food was traditional and tasty.  Verified Amazing stay in the desert, higly recommended! We absolutely loved the 1 night desert stay we dit with Bivouac les Nomades. First off all it was great we found out you can go into the (real sand) desert from Foum Zguid. It is so much closer than Merzouga, coming from Marrakech! Mustapha picket us and other families up from a café in Foum Zguid, then it was a few hours drive by 4X4 to the camp. It was amazing and magical being in the desert! The large dunes were incredible! The bed was comfortable, the shower and toilets were clean and the food was really good. We highly recommend booking with Mustapha and Bivouac Les Nomades!

Not only is the camp in a magical place where the silence of the dunes will whisk you away, but the experience of travelling or walking with Dromedar to the dunes transports you back to the times when crossing the desert for trade and travel was a hard necessity.
