3 Days Desert Tour from Ouarzazate to Chegaga & Iriki

We leave Ouarzazate in the morning and drive through the Anti-Atlas Mountains until we reach the green Draa Valley, famous for its palm trees and old kasbahs. We stop in Zagora, From here, we continue to Mhamid, the last village before the dunes begin. In the evening, you will ride camels or drive into the sand and spend the night in a desert camp. Dinner, music, and a sky full of stars will make this night unforgettable.

After breakfast, we drive into the heart of the Sahara towards the wild Chegaga dunes, the highest in the region. You will ride camels and have time to climb the dunes and enjoy the wide views.

On the way, we stop at nomad tents where you can meet families who live in the desert, share tea, and learn about their simple lifestyle. We also visit a small desert school and pass by oases where palm trees bring life to the dry land.

In the afternoon, the tour continues across the magical Iriki dry lake, a huge flat land that shines like glass in the sun. Tonight, instead of staying in town, you will sleep in a desert camp near Iriki, far from everything. Around the fire, under a sky full of stars, you will feel the true spirit of the Sahara.

After breakfast in the camp near Iriki dry lake, we continue the drive across rocky desert to the small town of Foum Zguid. Here you can walk around the village, visit its old kasbah, and enjoy the quiet desert atmosphere. From Foum Zguid the road passes by the Tajine Mountain, a beautiful natural landmark shaped like the traditional Moroccan tajine pot.

Later we arrive in Taznakht, a Berber village famous for its handmade carpets and the production of saffron, the red “gold” of Morocco. You will have time to visit carpet cooperatives and learn how Berber women weave their colorful rugs, and also see how saffron is grown and prepared. In the afternoon, we drive back to Ouarzazate, where the tour ends.
