Welcome to Marrakech! Upon your arrival at Marrakech Airport, our friendly team will be waiting to greet you and assist you with your transfer to the hotel where you will be staying. Take some time to relax and settle in. In the afternoon, we’ll gather for a delightful lunch together, providing an opportunity to discuss the exciting program ahead. This is a great chance to get to know your fellow travelers and our team, as we outline the itinerary and share tips for making the most of your Moroccan adventure. Prepare for an early start the next day as we embark on our hiking journey in the Atlas Mountains.
Rise and shine! At 5:00 AM, we’ll meet our driver for a morning departure towards Imlil, the starting point of our hiking adventure. As we make our way through the scenic landscape, you’ll witness the majestic Atlas Mountains awakening in the early light. Upon arrival in Imlil, we’ll be introduced to our local team and the mules that will carry our camping gear. The hike begins as we ascend through the picturesque Ait Souka village and the lush Imlil Valley.
Our trek will take us to Sidi Chamharouch, where we’ll pause for lunch and enjoy the stunning views around us. After a well-deserved break, we’ll continue our ascent toward Lake Ifni, a breathtaking high-altitude glacial lake nestled at the foot of Mount Toubkal. This beautiful spot is perfect for setting up camp for the night, where we can relax and take in the serene surroundings.
After breakfast by the lake, we’ll pack our gear and prepare for an exciting journey to Erg Chegaga, the gateway to the Sahara Desert. We’ll set off towards Foum Zguid, the last town before the expansive desert. As we travel, marvel at the stunning views of the Atlas Mountains and the traditional Berber villages we pass along the way. We’ll stop for lunch in Taznakht, famous for its vibrant carpets, before continuing our journey.
Upon reaching Foum Zguid, we’ll meet our 4×4 team and embark on an adventurous drive towards Erg Chegaga. En route, we’ll explore fascinating sites, including fossils, the striking Tajine Mountains, and interact with the local nomads. In the evening, we’ll arrive at Bivouac Les Nomades, where we’ll enjoy a traditional Berber dinner around a campfire, accompanied by music under the stars.
Awaken to the enchanting sounds of the Sahara! After breakfast, we’ll embark on a memorable camel trekking experience deep into the desert. Our journey will take us towards Erg Elghoul, allowing us to immerse ourselves in the tranquil atmosphere of the vast Sahara. As we trek, listen to the gentle whispers of the wind and observe the unique desert wildlife and nomadic lifestyle around us. This camel trek offers a wonderful opportunity to learn about the traditions and culture of the nomadic people, giving you a deeper understanding of their way of life in this beautiful yet harsh environment.
After breakfast, we’ll leave Erg Elghoul and head towards the Jabel Bani mountains. This region is known for its stunning landscapes and rich nomadic culture. Along the way, we’ll visit a nomadic school, where you can learn about the education of children in remote areas. We’ll also have the chance to share a meal with a nomadic family, experiencing their hospitality and learning more about their daily lives in the middle of nowhere.
Today, we’ll continue our exploration of the Jabel Bani mountains. As we trek through the Oued Elmhasser, be prepared for awe-inspiring views of the rugged terrain. Our destination for the day is a hidden natural swimming pool, a refreshing oasis in the desert. Here, you’ll have the chance to take a dip and relax amidst the beautiful surroundings. This unique spot is perfect for unwinding and reflecting on your adventure so far.
On our final day, we’ll begin our journey back to Foum Zguid, traversing the picturesque Oued Elmhasser Valley. Once we reach Foum Zguid, we’ll enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, savoring traditional Moroccan dishes one last time. Afterward, we’ll set off for Agadir, taking a scenic route that includes visits to Taznakht, known for its exquisite carpets, and Taroudant, often referred to as the “small Marrakech.” As we make our way to Agadir, we’ll also explore Taliouine, renowned for its saffron production. Finally, we’ll arrive at Agadir’s stunning coastline, marking the end of our unforgettable Moroccan desert adventure.
