Next, travel to Meknes, often called the “Moroccan Versailles.” Admire the grand Bab Mansour gate, then continue to Fes, where you’ll check into your hotel and prepare for the cultural wonders ahead.

Day 2: Fes – Ifrane – Azrou – Midelt – Merzouga

Scenic Drive Through the Middle Atlas Mountains

After breakfast, depart Fes and embark on a scenic drive through the Middle Atlas Mountains. Your first stop is Ifrane, often called the “Switzerland of Morocco” due to its alpine-style architecture and clean streets. Take a short walk through the charming town and enjoy its peaceful atmosphere.

Encounter Barbary Apes in Azrou

Next, continue to Azrou, where you’ll have the chance to explore the cedar forests that are home to Barbary Apes. These playful primates are native to the region and are a favorite among visitors. Enjoy the crisp mountain air and perhaps feed the apes (responsibly).

Lunch in Midelt and Journey Through the Ziz Valley

Stop for a delicious lunch in Midelt, a town nestled between the Middle and High Atlas Mountains. Afterward, resume your journey through the Ziz Valley, a region known for its dramatic gorges, lush date palm oases, and kasbah-dotted landscapes.

Camel Trek and Desert Camp in Merzouga

Arrive in Merzouga, your gateway to the Sahara. Here, mount a camel and begin your camel trek across the Erg Chebbi dunes, the tallest in Morocco. As the sun sets, take in the golden sands and shifting shadows before reaching your desert camp.

Enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner, gather around a campfire, and listen to Berber music beneath the starry desert sky — a magical end to an unforgettable day.

Day 3: Merzouga – Tinghir – Todra Gorge – Dades Valley

Rise early to witness a stunning Sahara sunrise. After breakfast, head toward Tinghir and explore the towering cliffs of Todra Gorge, ideal for photos and short walks.

After a local lunch, continue to the scenic Dades Valley, famous for its unique rock formations and ancient kasbahs. Check in to your hotel and enjoy the peaceful beauty of the region.

Day 4: Dades Valley – Kalaat Mgouna – Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou

Following breakfast, travel through the Dades Valley and stop in Kalaat Mgouna, known as the “Valley of Roses.” Proceed to Ouarzazate, often dubbed the “Hollywood of Africa,” to visit Taourirt Kasbah and the Atlas Film Studios.

In the afternoon, explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ait Ben Haddou, a striking ksar made of mudbrick architecture. Cross the scenic Tizi n’Tichka Pass in the High Atlas Mountains as you head toward Marrakech.

Day 5: Ouarzazate – High Atlas – Marrakech

Enjoy the drive through the High Atlas Mountains, capturing panoramic views and quaint Berber villages along the way. Upon arriving in Marrakech, check into your accommodation and begin exploring the city.

Visit the famous Jemaa el-Fnaa square, a vibrant hub of food stalls, street performers, and artisans. End your day with a traditional Moroccan dinner in the medina.

Day 6: Discover Marrakech

Spend the day discovering Marrakech’s cultural treasures. Visit the Koutoubia Mosque, the Saadian Tombs, and the majestic Bahia Palace. Stroll through the exotic Majorelle Garden, formerly owned by Yves Saint Laurent.

Later, lose yourself in the colorful souks or relax in a traditional hammam. Return to Jemaa el-Fnaa in the evening for entertainment and local street food.
