Itinerary: 4 Days Tour from Ouarzazate to Erg Chigaga Desert
Day 1: Ouarzazate – Agdez – Draa Valley – Zagora – M’hamid – Erg Chigaga
Departure from Ouarzazate after breakfast toward Agdez through the Tizi n’Tinififft Pass (1660 m). Stop for photos of the stunning mountain scenery. Continue along the Draa Valley, Morocco’s longest oasis filled with palm trees, kasbahs, and small Berber villages.
Visit Tamnougalt Kasbah or stroll among the palm groves before heading to Zagora, the old caravan town. Lunch on the way, then continue to M’hamid, the last village before the Sahara. From here, travel off-road by 4×4 through a wild desert landscape until reaching Erg Chigaga dunes.
Enjoy a camel ride at sunset over the golden sands. Dinner and overnight at Bivouac Les Nomades, with traditional Berber music and a starlit sky.
Day 2: Full Day in Erg Chigaga Desert
Wake up early to admire the sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast, explore the area around Erg Chigaga by camel or 4×4. Visit nearby dunes, meet nomadic families, and learn about desert life.
You may also relax at the camp, walk barefoot on the soft sand, or simply enjoy the silence of the Sahara. Lunch is served at the camp or as a picnic in the dunes.
In the evening, climb the highest dune to watch the sunset. Dinner and overnight at Bivouac Les Nomades, under a sky full of stars.
Day 3: Desert Exploration – Nomadic Experience
After breakfast, enjoy another day of desert adventure. Drive deeper into the dunes to discover hidden corners of the Sahara. Visit a nomad family living in traditional tents and share tea with them. Learn about their customs and daily life.
You can also visit the sacred oasis of Oum Laalag, an important stop for desert travelers. Return to the camp in the afternoon to rest. Watch the sunset and enjoy another magical evening at Bivouac Les Nomades with music and local cuisine.
Day 4: Erg Chigaga – Lake Iriqui – Foum Zguid – Taznakht – Ouarzazate
After breakfast, depart by 4×4 across the wild Sahara. Cross Lake Iriqui, a dry salt lake inside the Iriqui National Park. Follow the old Paris-Dakar track toward Foum Zguid, a small Berber town at the edge of the desert.
Stop for lunch, then continue through Taznakht, known for its colorful handmade carpets. Arrive in Ouarzazate in the late afternoon. End of the tour and your unforgettable desert journey.
