3 Days Tour from Ouarzazate to Erg Chigaga Desert
Day 1: Ouarzazate – Agdez – Draa Valley – Zagora – M’hamid – Erg Chigaga
After breakfast, depart from Ouarzazate towards Agdez via the scenic Tizi n’Tinififft Pass (1660 m). Stop for photos overlooking the Anti-Atlas mountains. Continue through the Draa Valley, Morocco’s longest palm grove, dotted with ancient kasbahs and green oases. Visit the Kasbah of Tamnougalt or stroll through the palm groves.
Drive on to Zagora and then to M’hamid, the last village before the desert. Here, switch to a 4×4 vehicle for an exciting off-road journey across sandy tracks and rocky plains until reaching Erg Chigaga, one of Morocco’s most impressive dune areas.
Upon arrival, enjoy a camel ride at sunset to admire the glowing dunes. Dinner and overnight stay at Bivouac Les Nomades, with Berber music by the campfire under a sky full of stars.
Day 2: Full Day in Erg Chigaga Desert
Wake up early to enjoy the sunrise over the dunes, a magical moment of silence and beauty. After breakfast, spend the day exploring the surroundings of Erg Chigaga. Take a short 4×4 ride or camel trek to visit nearby dunes and discover the nomadic lifestyle of desert families.
You can also relax at the camp, walk barefoot on the sand, or simply enjoy the peace of the Sahara. Lunch is served at the camp or as a picnic in the dunes.
In the evening, climb to the top of a high dune to watch the sunset over the golden sands. Enjoy another night at Bivouac Les Nomades, with a traditional Moroccan dinner and music beneath the stars.
Day 3: Erg Chigaga – Lake Iriqui – Foum Zguid – Taznakht – Ouarzazate
After breakfast, the adventure continues through the Iriqui National Park. Cross the dry lake of Iriqui, an amazing desert plain where you can spot fossil stones. Follow the old Paris-Dakar track until reaching Foum Zguid.
Stop for lunch, then travel back to Ouarzazate through Taznakht, a Berber village famous for its handmade carpets. Arrive in Ouarzazate by the end of the afternoon, marking the end of your unforgettable desert experience.
