Lake Iriki Morocco

Lake iriqui desert Morocco.

Is lake iriki Morocco full of water? Is the raod from foum zguid to lake iriki possible? What is close to reach the lake iriqui from foum zguid or from Mhamid Elghizlane?.

Lake iriki is one of the most biggest lake in North Africa. It is situated around 57 kilometers away from foum zguid. And around 80 kilometers from Mhamid Elghizlane. It is in the commune of allougoum the province of tata. The lake iriki was considered as the stomach of the river of ouad draa. The draa valley before they make the damn of Elmansour Edehbi in Ouarzazate was one of the longest river around 10100 kilometers till the sea of tantan. The lake iriki is around 9 kilometers × 3 kilometers in the other side. Lake iriki was dried since half decade before the last rain that visited the south of Morocco, this later now is coming back and full of water bringing back the lake to life, there is alot of kind of birds that already come to the lake . The lake is only 1 hour drive from the last city to the desert ( foum zguid). If you want to visit the lake iriki from Marrakech or Agadir or Ouarzazate, you can drive directly to foum zguid which is the last city to the desert, then you can take the 4×4 to lake iriki. You can sleep in a desert camp in the middle of the dunes of lake iriki and enjoy the view of the lake from the top of the big dunes of lake iriki.
Alot of tourist ask the question of is it possible to pass now from Mhamid Elghizlane to foum zguid through lake iriki. We have been just few days in Mhamid Elghizlane from foum zguid so we assure you that you can pass from mahamid Elghizlane to foum zguid and the vise versa. The situation of the raod is not in the best condition but still you can pass from the north side of lake iriki and through the village of zaouit sidi abd enbi then you can pass through the sides of Jabel bani without any problems.

There a difference between the lake iriki and the iriqui national park.
The national park of iriki was created in 1994 to preserve animal species and rehabilitating the wetlands in the center of the dry lake, where desertification is increasingly intensifying. Iriki National Park is located 150km south of Ouarzazate and 80km southwest of Zagora. And the national park contains 123000 hectares.
