Your adventure begins in Zagora, where we’ll pick you up early from your hotel or campsite. A short drive takes you to Elfayja, south of the village of Rggab Ental, where you’ll meet your camel team. After a brief orientation, the trek begins toward the majestic Jebel Bani Mountains.

The journey into the mountains unfolds over rocky terrain, offering a rugged yet captivating introduction to the desert’s landscape. After approximately five hours of trekking, you’ll reach the serene Ouad Elmhasser valley, nestled in the heart of the mountains. Here, the Diabi Oasis awaits—a peaceful haven to relax and rejuvenate after the day’s efforts. Enjoy a traditional meal before resting under the starlit sky.

Wake up in the tranquil oasis and enjoy a traditional breakfast before resuming your trek. The route continues through Ouad Elmhasser, gradually descending to the Elmssffi Guelta, a hidden gem in the desert. This natural swimming pool, surrounded by rugged cliffs, offers a refreshing spot to cool off and relax.

After settling in, there will be an optional hike to explore a nearby Portuguese colonial building perched on one of the table-top mountains. Its historic ruins provide a glimpse into the region’s intriguing past. As the sun sets, return to camp for a restful evening amidst this picturesque setting.

Today is dedicated to relaxation and discovery around the Elmssffi Guelta. Spend the day swimming in the pool, hiking the surrounding hills for panoramic views, or uncovering forgotten ruins in the area. For those seeking a deeper cultural connection, your hosts will gather firewood for an evening bonfire.

Under the starry sky, enjoy traditional nomadic music and stories, passed down through generations. This immersive experience will give you a deeper appreciation for the Saharan culture and the enduring spirit of its people.

This day covers approximately 18 km of trekking, transitioning from the rocky hammada plains to the breathtaking Erg Elghoul sand dunes. Begin the morning with a scenic walk through flat, stony terrain, witnessing the stark beauty of the desert’s geological features.

As the sand begins to dominate the landscape, the camel trail will guide you to the base of the towering Erg Elghoul dunes. Arrive in the late afternoon, in time to climb a dune and witness a spectacular sunset. Spend the night camping at the dunes’ edge, either in a tent or beneath the stars.

After breakfast, prepare for a challenging yet awe-inspiring trek through the Erg Elghoul dunes to the Bivouac Les Nomades camp near Lake Iriki. The journey involves navigating the rolling, golden sands, a true immersion in the Sahara’s grandeur.

As you traverse this sea of dunes, you’ll encounter whispers of life in the form of desert flora and fauna, adding moments of wonder to the trek. By evening, you’ll arrive at the luxurious Bivouac Les Nomades camp, where a warm welcome, hot shower, and celebratory dinner await. Start your final day with a stunning sunrise over the dunes—a sight that will leave an indelible mark on your memory. After breakfast, bid farewell to the desert and your camel team. A 4×4 vehicle will transport you back to Zagora or Foum Zguid, where your unforgettable journey concludes.
