Begin your Sahara Desert adventure upon arrival at Zagora Airport, where your driver/guide will meet you. The journey heads south to M’hamid el Ghizlane, a small town 90 kilometers from Zagora that marks the gateway to the vast desert.
En route, visit Tamagroute, a charming pottery village 20 kilometers south of Zagora. Here, skilled artisans craft exquisite ceramics by hand—perfect for finding a unique keepsake.
On arrival in M’hamid el Ghizlane, you’ll meet your Moroccan camels, ready to transport you on a memorable trek to your desert camp. Spend the afternoon and evening exploring the stunning sand dunes, enjoying the breathtaking sunset, and savoring delicious traditional Saharan cuisine. Wrap up your night with lively Saharan music under a starlit sky. Accommodation is in a traditional Berber bivouac.
Start your day with breakfast in the serene M’hamid el Ghizlane desert camp. Then, embark on a two-hour camel trek deeper into the Sahara. You’ll meet your 4×4 vehicle to continue off-road to Erg Chegaga, home to the majestic dunes towering 300 meters high—one of Morocco’s most spectacular sights.
The off-road journey includes stops at a natural oasis and glimpses of nomadic families living in the desert. Upon arrival at Erg Chegaga, take in the awe-inspiring views of the massive dunes and your desert camp for the night. Enjoy Moroccan tea and snacks as you relax in this tranquil setting.

Wake up early to witness the sunrise over Erg Chegaga’s dunes—a truly unforgettable moment. After breakfast, begin the return journey, heading off-road through the desert toward Lake Iriki. This dried lake bed offers mesmerizing views of endless flat terrain.
Continue to Foum Zguid for a short lunch break after a three-hour off-road drive. From there, transition to paved roads as you journey back to Zagora.
