Day 1: Arrival in Foum Zguid and Trek to Elmadouar Elkbiir

Begin your adventure in Foum Zguid, meeting the Tuareg team and camels. The trek covers approximately 10 km across flat, rocky terrain known as Hammada, leading to the iconic Elmadouar Elkbiir mountains. Enjoy tea at an oasis with breathtaking views and spend the night camping under the stars. Climb a nearby mountain for a spectacular sunset to cap off the day.

Day 2: Trekking from Elmadouar Elkbiir to Elmadouar Seghiir

Covering about 18 km, this day features varied terrain, starting with rocky paths that shift to sandy trails. You’ll pass through valleys and ascend plateaus offering sweeping desert vistas. At night, camp near the Elmadouar Seghiir mountains, enjoying the serene desert environment and traditional hospitality.

Day 3: Crossing to Colorado Lake Iriki

Trek 19 km to reach the edge of the dry Colorado Lake Iriki, once a thriving natural park. This stretch takes you through fossil-rich grounds, where you can spot ancient remains scattered across the terrain. Set up camp near the lake and immerse yourself in the peaceful desert landscape.

Day 4: Traversing the Riverbed of Iriki

An 18 km trek over a flat but sun-exposed riverbed awaits. The terrain is barren, but the surrounding beauty compensates for the challenge. Arrive at an oasis hidden in the desert, where you can relax, take a refreshing desert shower, and enjoy the solitude of this remote location.

Day 5: Reaching the Erg Elghoul Dunes

Walk approximately 17 km as the terrain gradually transforms into sandier ground. The journey ends at the towering Erg Elghoul dunes, where you’ll spend the night enveloped by the golden Sahara sands. Experience a mesmerizing sunset and the captivating silence of the desert.

Day 6: Trekking Across Erg Chegaga Dunes to Ouad Elmhasser Valley

A challenging 21 km trek takes you through the majestic dunes of Erg Chegaga. The undulating sands make for an intense but rewarding day. Descend into the Ouad Elmhasser valley for a well-earned rest, camping at the valley’s edge under a starlit sky.

Day 7: Reaching Elmssaffi Guelta

Cover 15 km through the valley to arrive at the Elmssaffi Guelta, a natural desert swimming pool. Cool off with a refreshing swim, wash away the day’s fatigue, and spend the evening exploring nearby mountains or simply relaxing at the campsite.

Day 8: Crossing the Jebel Bani Mountains

This day involves a 17 km trek up and over the Jebel Bani mountain range. The route includes a stop at the Diabi Oasis for refreshments before descending to a small desert village, Tafraout, where you’ll spend the night immersed in local culture.

Day 9: Exploring Hidden Oases in Jebel Bani

Walk 16 km as you navigate the rugged terrain of Jebel Bani, encountering secluded oases along the way. The breathtaking views and unique desert flora make for a memorable day before camping in a tranquil spot under the stars.

Day 10: Final Stretch to Mahamid Elghizlane

A shorter trek of 12 km brings you to a campsite just outside Mahamid Elghizlane. After settling in, head to town for a well-deserved traditional Moroccan hammam and a fresh meal to celebrate the journey.

Day 11: Return to Marrakech

Depart by minibus from Mahamid Elghizlane, visiting landmarks such as the ancient Jewish Kasbah, ceramic workshops, Zagora, and Ouarzazate. The journey includes a stop at Ait Ben Haddou before continuing back to Marrakech, reflecting on the incredible adventure.
